Launch Vehicle Techs Accept
New Contract
On May 2, 2004, IAM members employed
at Lockheed Martin Astronautics ratified a new 3 year agreement
with the company. The contract was accepted by 91 percent of
those casting ballots. The 500 workers are located at the Cape in
Florida and Vandenberg AFB in California. These members are
assigned to support the launching of vehicles that carry
satellites into orbit.
Aerospace Coordinator John Crowdis and
Western Territory Grand Lodge Representative Don Whitaker led the
negotiations with the company. Additionally, District Lodge 166
Business Representative Johnny Walker is to be commended for the
outstanding job he did in behalf of our membership at Local Lodge
610. Brother Walker's leadership and knowledge of the issues
during these negotiations were of great significance in reaching
an agreement with the employer.
Highlights of the contract are:
- Wage increases are 4% 1st year,
3% 2nd year, 3% 3rd year.
- COLA float added to Mins. and
Max.
- $1,500.00 signing bonus.
- Pension increase from $50.00 per
year of service to now be $60.00 Retro to 1/1/04. This is now
the highest pension rate at any LM facility, and establishes a
new level for other units to improve upon.
- Increase Mission Success
Incentive payments (MSI) from 3 weeks every 6 months to 6 weeks
every 6 months, retro to 1/1/04'.
- Medical premiums co-pay capped
at the same level as the other LM contracts.
- $10,000.00 pay if laid off prior
to program conclusion, and $5,000.00 pay if working through the
conclusion of the Titan Program.
- Improved Overtime language
